While our main function is maintaining fair and accurate assessments, the mission of the Grafton Assessors Office is to provide excellent service to the community through public awareness, education, and availability of assessment information, while looking towards future innovative measures to improve these services.

The Building Department is responsible for the review and issuance of Building Permits, Zoning Permits and Sign Permits. The Inspector of Buildings is also the Zoning Enforcement Officer charged with enforcing the Town of Grafton Zoning By-Laws. In addition, the Building Department coordinates inspections with the Electrical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, and Gas Inspector.

The Grafton Senior Center serves older persons, disabled persons of all ages and their caregivers. Programs that enhance dignity and quality of life, support independence and encourage general wellness are developed, coordinated, and promoted to meet the needs of these individuals. The Grafton Senior Center also provides advocacy and assistance.

The Planning Department's mission is twofold: to provide professional advice and technical expertise to elected officials, appointed boards and committees, Town departments and citizens to assist in understanding and addressing key community issues and priorities; and to continue to focus on a long term commitment to economic vitality, environmental integrity, and development design through the highest quality planning, implementation and development review.

The philosophy of the Grafton Police Department is that preventing crime and being proactive are the keys to maintaining a high quality of life in our community.

The Recreation Commission offers a comprehensive and varied program of public recreation activities, services and resources for the Grafton residents.

The Grafton Sewer Department operations are overseen by the Board of Sewer Commissioners and through the departments personnel must maintain; billings for sewer use fees, payment of bond issues, review of construction plans for future use and the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility.

The Town Accountant’s office processes accounts payable and payrolls for all town departments. Permanent accounting records and budget information are maintained in the accounting department. Various monthly and annual reports are prepared for town departments and the Department of Revenue.

The Town Administrator is the chief administrative and fiscal officer for the Town appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The duties of the Town Administrator are set forth in Article 4 of the Town Charter and cover the full range of administrative and fiscal responsibilities associated with the daily operation of a municipal corporation.

The Grafton Treasurer/Collector Office is committed to achieving a high standard of service to the public and municipal employees in the administration of all revenue and expenses of the Town of Grafton.

The Department of Veterans Services is a State mandated service, which provides services to veterans, veteran spouses and their dependents. |
